July 13th 12:00pm-4:00pm (Saturday) - Viking Knit

Viking Knit is a technique that uses very thin wire to weave a length wire rope. The technique is similar to knitting with yarn, but produces amazing silver or other metal jewelry. Reduction plates are used to even out your knitting so you don't need to be an expert to create a even knit.

Students will use Collage sheets and other images that are provided as part of the clas or that they have brought to class to create unique pieces of jewelery. The images will be set behind glass and using copper solder will make a frame for these images. Students will learn how to prepare images, assemble the images and glass pieces, and use a soldering iron and copper solder (silver tone) to make a pendants or charms.
This is a 4 hour class. Students can expect to make 2-3 pendants or charms during the class time. This class and materials fee covers Images (But bring your own pendany or charm sized images!!), glass, copper tape, lead-free solder, and jump rings. This also covers in-class use of all necessary tools and equipment - everything needed to create your one of a kind jewelry.

August 15th 10:00am-2:30pm (1/2 hr. for lunch) (Friday) - Snippets: A Unique Artist's Book

Create your own unique album filled with varying sizes of snippets, mementos and paper treasures. We will fill the pages with tiny ephemeral treasures noting what it is that makes these images to important to us. Turning the pages of a book like this fills us with simple joy and pleasure. Learn how to make your own snippet filled book that will inspire you!
Supply list- Students should please bring the following: Small selection of Collage ephemera (handmade/decorative paper, copies of old photos, magazine clippings, journal pages, art book pages, cherished cut outs-anything that "speaks" to you. Please make color copies of anything you wish to use more then once),Scissors, bone folder, 3 bristle brushes to paint and glue (no foam please), container to hold water in, cork backed metal ruler, black permanent ink pad (like Versafine or Memories) roll of paper towels, and a roll of waxed paper. The instructor will be supplying an array of professional artist acrylics and mediums, rubber stamps, collage ephemera, and all necessary materials.

August 15th 3:00pm-7:00pm (Friday) - What Next

You've made your journal, your altered book, your artist's book. In fact, you've probably made more the one. You've got the gusto, now get the inspiration, the ideas and new techniques you've been craving for. In this workshop, we will spend the class working hands on IN the pages of your book. You will learn new mixed media techniques (yup, we'll cover it all-all NEW ideas!!) that will have you reaching for your paint brush or glue stick on a regular basis! Note: If you've never made a journal, you are welcome in this class! TONS of ideas provided for a variety of art forms including: Art Journals, Altered Books, ATCs, Canvas, Collage and MORE. ALL levels of experience are welcome in any of my classes!! You will need a journal or several sheets of heavy cardstock for this class!

Learn how to use acrylic paints and various mixed media supplies combined with various collage elements to create your own, unique painted face. In this workshop, we'll start with some hands on learning and exploring how to create your own rainbow world of flesh colors. Then, we'll dive right in and make our own artist's book of exquisite and original hand painted collaged faces. Walk out with a finished book full of faces and your head spinning with new ideas. This is not a drawing class, but I guarantee you will love what we do!
